Rodeo Time

Wearing her
new boots
"Wee-haw, wee-haw, wee-haw!" That's the soundtrack around our house here lately as rodeo season comes to end here in Texas. This year was Emma's first time to go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and to say she had a blast would be an understatement.

To get ready for her first rodeo adventure, Uncle Philip and Ashley bought Emma her first set of cowboy boots. After a few minutes of awkward duck waddling, she got the hang of wearing them, and soon, the silly girl was walking around on her heels in them (a nice change from her tiptoes). It was like she'd been wearing cowboy boots all her life. Of course, once they saw the cuteness of the boots, Philip and Ashley decided they need to go back for the cute matching outfit too (They spoil Emma a lot!). I did a load of laundry that night, and we were set to go!

This little cowgirl is rodeo ready!

We got up Sunday morning (after the time change no less) and set out for our rodeo adventure. I even managed to get some barrettes in Emma's hair, which is no small feat! It was a wet and cold Sunday morning, but we were so glad we took Ashley's advice on when to go because there were very few people there early on a Sunday morning. We got to walk up to most of the exhibits right away with no wait or crowds.

Emma loves animals, so getting to see them up close was a real treat. We started with the bunnies (some of which were HUGE), and then saw cows, pigs, chicks, turkeys, goats, and sheep. We looked at all the individual exhibits and then hit up the petting zoo at the end.

Emma even got to meet Howdy, the Rodeo mascot, and Miss Moo. We were glad she did well meeting them since we were headed to our Disney cruise the next week. She just walked right up to them and was ready with high fives and hugs. Getting her to pose for a photo op was a little bit more tricky though.

We did get some time to take in some shopping, and Emma and Pappy got to check out the tractors. She knew just what to do when she climbed up in the driver's seat. We even got Pappy to buy his little cowgirl a horse - granted, it was a stick one - but he smiled when he bought it nonetheless.

All in all, it was a good day, but it left us with one tuckered out cowgirl.
