Well, we have successfully landed across the pond! We got into London around 11:30 am and have been going ever since. And now, it's 10:45 pm, and we're beat. But we wanted to take a moment to type up some of the highlights of our day and share some of our favorite photos - mainly so we wouldn't forget about them ourselves.
Observations and insights from today:
- The Underground while at times stuffy and not for the claustrophobic is really pretty easy to navigate. We've gone from the west side of central London to the east side and back today, and didn't get lost once. It helps though that our hotel is located just down from Paddington Station, so we've got easy access to the tube.
- Our hotel is small but cute. By the time we got off the plane, through customs, got our bags, and rode the Heathrow Express, our room was ready to be checked in to, and we were really grateful to just rest and shower. The shower is the best, y'all. Tall, powerful rainfall shower that even Kevin fits under!

- After a quick bite to eat from McDonalds (don't judge - it was easy), we headed out to visit the National Gallery and Trafalgar Square. Just the building of that the National Gallery is housed in is impressive. We enjoyed seeing a lot of different paintings - some of which were huge and some of which were tiny. It seemed like the farther back in time we were the more crucifixion pictures there were or downright gory scenes from mythology. We got to see Van Goghs, Titian, Rembrandt, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and lots of others we had never even heard of. It reminded me of my World History days when we had to memorize all the different paintings from the different periods.

- After our 2 hour trek through the National Gallery, we checked out Trafalgar Square out front and decided to walk down towards Parliament and the Thames. Things learned: there are random monuments just everywhere, London drivers and pedestrians are fearless, and 70 degrees is the perfect weather for visiting. In just half a day's journey around the city, we logged 7,800 steps, and we're pleasantly worn out.
